Longtime Vallejo chiropractor John Harrington said Three Mile Island changed his life. The 53-year-old Montana native had planned a U.S. Navy career but changed course after the 1979 nuclear power plant accident. "I was in nuclear submarines on Mare Island, where I met my wife, when a little thing called Three Mile Island came along and effectively killed the nuclear industry," he said. "So, I was looking for an alternative career and was considering physical therapy when my sister married a chiropractor and I found that appealed to me more." Practicing in Vallejo for 25 years, Harrington said he enjoys meeting different people and helping them get healthy. "Every day it's rewarding," he said. "After all these years, I still love my job, and how many people my age can say that?" One of 10 children , Harrington said he learned his work ethic from his parents who were both educators.
